Suspects and Friends

Eoin Colfer Check out the Q&A below!

Eoin Colfer is the Official Biographer of Artemis Fowl. He was born and raised in Wexford in the south-east of Ireland. How he became Artemis Fowl’s biographer is something of a mystery. Colfer claims that the Fowl lawyers contacted him. Artemis Fowl swears that he had never heard of Eoin Colfer until both of their names appeared on the cover of his unauthorized biography. There is a rumour that the two met some years ago in the catacombs beneath Dublin, but there is no hard evidence to prove that. All evidence is mostly circumstantial. A source close to Colfer says that he came out of that meeting with grey hair and no money.

There is more to this story than meets the eye. Better visit artemisfowl.co.uk for more information on these Artemis Fowl and Eoin Colfer characters. And Eoin has a video blog on there, so you can keep an eye on him.

Private Eye on Eoin Colfer

  1. Have you ever solved a case?
Personally, no. I am afraid my brain works too slowly. But I do pride myself on figuring out whodunnit in books and movies.
  2. Have you ever been involved in a real case or met a P.I.?
Again, I haven't been involved in actual cases, but some close friends of mine are policemen and sometimes they will tell me about old cases.
  3. Is being a P.I. dangerous?
I think being a P.I. can be very dangerous. Most people don't appreciate being followed or photographed and can lose their tempers with whoever is doing the following or photographing.
  4. What do you think makes a great sleuth?
I would guess a great sleuth would have to be someone who never gives up, someone who keeps at a problem like a dog worrying a bone.
  5. Do all detectives really eat doughnuts? Do you?
I confess. I love doughnuts. But don't judge everyone by my standards.
  6. What do you need for a stakeout?
Coffee to help stay awake. Patience to endure long hours of inactivity, and a nearby bathroom.
  7. Why are there so many strange names for detectives? (ie. Gumshoe)
I think detectives are bored on stakeouts and pass the time by inventing weird names for themselves.
  8. I think something of mine was stolen, how to I get in touch with Feltcher Moon for help?
Just ask at the Lock playground. Everyone knows Fletcher, which doesn't help when he wants to go undercover.
  9. How is it you know so much about the inner workings of the criminal mind?
I can't answer this, on the grounds that I might incriminate myself. (I didn't do it—it wasn't me)
  10. Who's your favourite detective and why?
Sherlock Holmes is The King. The Elvis of detectives. I like Holmes because it's all about the mind with him.
  11. If Fletcher had his own TV Show who would play him - and what would his theme tune be?
I think Fletcher could be played by a twelve-year-old Woody Allen. His theme tune would be “Little Know it All†by Iggy Pop.
  12. Fletcher works for April, one of the Barbie girls. Were there girls like that in your school playground?
There were girls around who were addicted to fashion, but behind the pink clothes there were usually shaper tongues and sharper minds. Never mess with the Barbies.
